I found some great inspirations out in blog land this week, If you haven't already checked them out, now would be a great time :)

First off, go check out this tufted ottoman @ Five days...5 ways:
(note: it used to be a coffee table.. plus, there is a tutorial)

This here, is a very cute and unique door wreath at The Creative Imperative
(I think it would look great on my red door to )

Kids (and adults ) love to eat things on sticks.
I would have never thought to make Blueberry muffins on skewers, it is super cute and would be a great idea for a brunch. Go to Homespun with love to see how it is done:

I have been thinking for a while now about making my own cleaning products, I just might after seeing this post at From Gardners to Bergers. Becca rounded up all the recipes and cute downloadable labels to use on your containers:

OK, that is a wrap for this week.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Shabby Apple Inspired Dress #2

Ever since I saw the Starboard bow dress at shabby apple, I knew I could make one myself since I had a brown t-shirt I no longer wore (it was to short).

Well, I gave it my best shot.

Close enough, don't you think?

For more pictures and to see how I made it, read on :

Here is what I started with

-brown t shirt
-3 yards white fabric
-white elastic

First I cut 3 "ruffles" and 1 underskirt
My ruffles were 11" X 63"
my underskirt was 43"X 21"

First take the underskirt and sew the edges together and hem it.

Next I got my ruffles all ready.

I folded down and ironed the edges:

Then once more:

And I stitched down the edges:

Next you need to ruffle the ruffles

Use a long stitch:

Pull the strings and ruffle:

You need to ruffle it until it is the same length as the underskirt all the way around
Then stitch down the edges (right sides together)

Next I sewed down the ruffle onto the underskirt:

Here is the first one attached:

Next mark where the rest of the ruffles go:

Then attach the rest of the ruffles:

Next measure your waist and cut your elastic:

Stitch the elastic edges together, then open up and stitch both sides down:

Next, pin your elastic to your your skirt portion (right sides together)

Sew your elastic onto the skirt (stretch the elastic)

Next try on the shirt and mark with a pin where you want the skirt to start:

Cut the shirt
Next pin your shirt to your skirt (right sides together)
Sew the shirt and skirt together
Iron down the ruffles (so you don't look like a muffin ;) )

Done!

Week Wrap Up #3 (Inspiration on how to turn trash into treasure)

Well that time has come, time to wrap up the week.
Boy, this week sure up speed by, anyone else feel like that?
It probably has a lot to do with the holiday.

Here are a few lovely things that have caught my attention this week.
They are all home decor/furniture. That is all that has been on my mind lately. I can't wait to start some makeovers in my home, but that will have to wait until after I get back from vacation, until then, I can just go gaga over the pictures, right?

They are a great inspiration to me and I hope they will be for you to.

First of all, check out this beautiful chandelier at The Tall Chick

Love, love, love this idea. Turn a old door into a outdoor table.
Go see how Stacey at Embracing Change does it:

My Latest Project Reveal

OH My!! You MUST go see how Julie at Less Then Perfect Life of Bliss made this bench!

(It was originally a coffee table!)

Allrighty then, Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Nicholas is 7 months old!

I can not believe my little baby is 7 months old!
I love this little guy so much, I just want to squeeze and kiss him all over

I took him to his check up last week, He is already 22 pounds and 29 inches long.
He is a chunky boy, he wears size 12-18 months now.

I am still breast feeding and co-sleeping with him.
We are still using only cloth diapers.

I have started giving him some solids (pureed veggies and fruits) He loves it, although I never give him more then 2 oz at a time.

Nicholas has 4 teeth now
(two on top and two on the bottom)

Nicholas did have a issue with a skin reaction because I changed baby shampoos.
I stopped using Johnson & Johnson's baby shampoo since I heard about the lawsuit.
We switched to Peter Rabbit Organic baby shampoo/wash, sold by whole foods.
However, Nicholas started getting red bumps all over. So we switched to Aveeno, which is going great. No more bumps.

Nicholas is not actually crawling on his hands and knees. He is, however crawling on his tummy, he uses his arms to pull himself forward.

He doesn't like his jumper very much, I think he does't like it since it constricts him to one area. He would rather be rolling and crawling around on the floor.

He loves attention, and when some one starts talking to him, he tilts his head sideways, crinkles his little nose and screeches. So cute, you have to see it!

Nicholas is going to see his grandma, grandpa soon.
My sister is getting married at the end of August and we are flying down to MO. I am flying first with the kids (that way I can be there for a month) and then my hubby is coming a few days before the wedding. We will fly back together,
I am just so nervous on flying alone with two kids.
Augh, my stomach ties up in knots when I think about it.

They look innocent, enough.. huh?

Well that's it for now

Thanks for visiting

Rita

Our 4th of July

We had a wonderful 4th of July this year.

We had a simple BBQ in the comfort of our own back yard.
The kids had a great time playing in the yard, I had a great time spending time with my friends and the hubby had a great time blowing up fire works
A little bit for everyone :)

Here is a little peek into our day

I made these chocolate cupcakes:

Strawberry and brownies kabobs:

Cakepops:

yummy.... dessert !

Adult table ;)

A little water play:

Some bubbles:

Then we had a little bit of fireworks:

This is how my daughter sat most of the time, the loud noise scared her:

The loud noise didn't bother the little man, he fell asleep:

We were all very tired after the long day, But it was a good tired feeling,
A feeling I used to get as a kid, after a long summer day outside.

Ok, now I have to go and clean up the firework mess outside :)
