Play Room/Guest Room

So, last week I cleared the kids room out of all the toys. I created a wonderful sanctuary for them. Someplace where they can get some rest at the end of the day and some place that isn't cluttered with toys.

So once I took all of the toys out, I needed some place to put them.

I had this guest room, which was only being a used a few times a year.
I decided to turn it into a play room, but still have a extra bed where our guests can stay.

Here it is:

I bought this day bed at IKEA, the best part is that it turns into a huge bed, if I have more then one person staying over:

I love these drawers, they are great to store toys.

Thank for visiting.

  3. What a good idea! I love the wall stenciling. And this day bed is very tempting... we're losing our guest room as we turn it into a nursery, but I just might be able to fit this bed into my office. Good to know about it :)

  4. I love the colors and the display of the artwork. I've been looking for something that my kids can easily use themselves. Where did you get it from?

  6. It looks great! One wall in our playroom has these recessed parts to it & I've been thinking of stenciling a pattern there, now that I see this room I think I'm totally going to do it! Thanks for the inspiration!

  13. I love, love, love this! You are in my exact boat. 2 kids, tons of toys, and a guest room that gets used maybe twice a year. I'm totally doing this at our new house. I featured you today on Whiletheysnooze.com and while I was picking the link party entries I wanted to feature, I had your play room photo open. Both of my kids were asking who's house that was and can they go there to play! haha 5 and 3 year old approved too! :) Coming from Life Inspired.

  18. So great! We are having #2 and needing to do this as well. Did you use an IKEA mattress? Is it comfortable?

    1. Yes, we used two ikea twin mattresses, just stack them on top, and when you expand the bed, just put the mattresses side by side. All our guests said that the bed is very comfortable. I Love Ikea foam mattresses.

    2. Do you remember which foam mattress you got? We are getting a store but it won't be open for another year. The cheapest/thinnest one is 3 3/4" thick but that seems really to thin for comfort...

    3. It is the sultan twin mattress. Surprisingly it is very comfy, all our guest always comment how comfy it is. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00139752/
