Our Thanksgiving Potluck

Since most people spend Thanksgiving with their immediate family, I decided to host a Thanksgiving/fall potluck for our friends this weekend. It turned out to be a wonderful evening. 

I didn't get to take to many pictures since it was such a busy evening. But here are a few.

I asked everyone to bring a side dish and a dessert.

We had a great time with our friends and the kids had a wonderful time playing too.

Pumpkin Pie

When I think of fall and thanksgiving, I think of pumpkin pie!

This is my husbands favorite "fall" pie. This recipe is very easy and simple to make.

Pumpkin Pie

15oz pumpkin puree (or 1 can of pumpkin)

3/4 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1/4 tsp ground ginger

1/4 tsp ground cloves

1/2 tsp sea salt

1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk

2 eggs, slightly beaten

1 9" deep dish pie shell (I use Martha's recipe):

INGREDIENTS

• • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, (spooned and leveled)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 16 tablespoons cold (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup ice water

DIRECTIONS

1. In a food processor, combine flour, salt, and sugar; pulse to combine. Add butter; pulse until mixture resembles coarse meal, with just a few pea-size pieces of butter remaining.
2. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup ice water. Pulse until dough is crumbly but holds together when squeezed with fingers (if necessary, add up to 1/4 cup more water, 1 tablespoon at a time). To help ensure a flaky crust, do not overprocess.
3. Transfer half of dough (still crumbly) onto a piece of plastic wrap. Form dough into a disk 3/4 inch thick; wrap tightly in plastic. Refrigerate until firm, at least 1 hour. This makes two  pie crusts, save one for later :)

Now that your pie crust is in the freezer, 

Mix the pumpkin and spices together. Add the condensed milk and beaten eggs. Mix slowly, just until thoroughly mixed.

Now take out your pie crust and roll out and form onto a pie dish:

Next pour your pumpkin mixture into the pie crust:

Next Bake at 425 for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350 and bake for an additional 35-40 minutes. 

Cool completely before serving.

Makeup Storage

My husband says I have to much makeup, and off course I don't think I do. 

Sure, I have more then a makeup bag full of makeup, but I love trying new things. 

I really got into makeup because my skin is so finicky. I am very oily, I break out and my eye lids are very sensitive. 

I have to find things that work with my skin. And although, I have found some things I really like,  I feel that there is a whole world full of makeup out there and I want to try and find the best I can. 

I keep my makeup in my bathroom vanity.

 I keep my makeup brushes in my medicine cabinet, the shelves are adjustable, so I can fit them nicely in here. I keep them in these cheap little glass cups from IKEA. 

All of my makeup goes in the top drawer of my vanity:

On the right side of the drawer, I keep the foundations, concealers and powders:

In the middle I keep my lip products, eyeliners, lashes and brow stuff:

On the left I keep my bronzers, blush, eye shadows and mascara:

Well thats it. Please tell me I am not the only mama out there with a drawer full of makeup.

Fall Decor around the house...

When it comes to decorating my house, I usually just put up a wreath on the door and call it a day. (except for christmas, I go all out for christmas) 

This year I decided to put a little bit more effort it it.

Fall Favorites

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. After a hot summer, the cooler weather and rain is so refreshing. 

With the cooler weather, I start wearing boots, burning candles and baking more :)

And don't forget the best part: It getting darker earlier, which means we are spending more time with family and friends in the evenings.

Here are some of my favorite fall things:

Cozy family time near the fire:

I love to cuddle up with hubby and the  kids near the fireplace, especially on a rainy day. 

Fall activities: 

One of our favorite activities to do at the beginning of the fall is going to the pumpkin patch. We also love going on hikes and walks picking leaves and pine cones with the kidos

Fall arts and crafts:

We love doing arts and crafts during any season, but especially fall:

Boots

I don't know what it is about boots, but I LOVE wearing them. 

Both booties and boots, they look great and are very comfortable.

Candles:

I love burning candles... I love vanilla, cookie, cinnamon smells

My favorite fall candle at the moment is Leaves by bath and body works
I pick these up when they are two for twenty. 

Layers:

I love wearing layers during the fall, and I especially love dressing my kidos in layers.
I am a big fan of color for kids clothing, and during the fall I can layer a whole bunch of different layers and patterns on them :)

Hats:

I love HATS! especially during the fall, when is it raining and cold outside.
No need to do my hair since it is going to get all frizzy from the rain anyway, just put a hat on!

On cold rainy days, I love baking something yummy in the kitchen.
and then we invite some friends over to help us eat all the yummy treats 

Fall Nailpolish:

During the fall months I stray away from corals and pinks and go for more gold and berry colors.

I love makeup throughout the whole year, but during the fall I get into the berry lips more.
