Long Hair vs Short Hair

OK.... so I got my hair cut.
It is a little shorter then I wanted it to be.
I told my stylist to cut it like she did a few months ago...

Here is how she cut it in Feb:

Guess what? she cut it way shorter, I guess I should have been more detailed in my description.

My new cut:

Now I am thinking that I am going to grow it out again. I have been having this battle for years, I cut my hair short then grow it out for 2 years, just to cut it all off again:

Here is my hair exactly a year ago:

Here is the thing, I love long hair, I think it is very pretty.

In fact.. I wish I would have huge celebrity curls.

However, it is a pain to style.

My hair is wavy (not the pretty wavy), So I have to blow dry, straighten and then style it.

It took me at least 15-20 minutes just to do my hair! And if I wanted curls, that's at least another half hour on top of that! I just didn't have time for that anymore.
If we are going somewhere, I have 2 kids to get ready, diaper bag to pack, snacks to prepare, etc.. So I barely have time to get ready let alone do my hair.

So I decided to cut it. Now it takes me like 5 minutes to style my bob.

One more thing. I was looking for pictures to use with my long hair, guess what? The one above was one of like 2 where I had my hair down. In all the other pictures, I put my hair in a pony tail or bun because it always gets in face and bothers me.

In a pony tail while visiting family in MO:

In a pony tail at the beach:

In a pony tail at the pumpkin patch:

In a pony tail at my baby shower:

So.. whats the point of having long hair, If I am going to hide it in a pony tail all the time?

But for some reason I still want beautiful long hair. Even though it is a pain.

So, I think I am going to try and grow it out again, and make myself style and leave it down! Ha! we will see how it goes..

So what do you prefer? Short or long hair?
Has your hair style changed since you became a mom?

  1. I love your hair in the top 2 photos best :) Having it shorter highlights your gorgeous high cheekbones and is sooooo much easier. These complements are coming from a woman who hasn't had her hair cut in a year and has had the same hairstyle for at least 3-4 years. I have the way awesome one side straight, other side wavy, both sides frizzy kinda of hair. Needless to say I am a huge fan of the ponytail/bun/wide headband.

  2. I always like short hair styles. When ever I grow my hair out and look back at pictures of it I hate it. Short Hair is definitely my favorite!

  3. I kind of like your hair shorter. You are very pretty and I think the shorter hair emphasizes how pretty you are.

I have a square face and coarse hair that just don't work together to have it short. I have tried and end up letting it grow out after wearing hats to cover up the mistake! hahaha

  4. I think you look great w/ short hair, your current pic of how your hairdresser just cut it is my fav! I grow my hair just to cut it too, then when I cut it i cry and tell my husband I wish i could just put it back on my head ... grow it out and just throw it in a pony ... I have the super straight fine hair.

  6. You are lucky! Your hair looks beautiful either way. I have curly hair so I can't wear it short or else I look like a mushroom! It was 104 today and I wished I had short hair so I wouldn't constantly have to keep pulling it up because my bun is so huge it falls on my neck and makes me all sweaty... tmi... i know.... sorry. Anyways! I think there is nothing wrong with growing it out to cut it. I hate looking the exact same every Christmas so it is fun to try and change it up, and your hair is absolutely perfect for that! Let me know if this was too much :)

  7. I feel the same way as you. I have to blow dry and flat iron it when it's long, otherwise it looks weird. I cut mine short 2 days after I got married, and now 3 years later I'm growing it out again because maintaining the short hair costs a lot. You look great with both. I like the top picture best, though! The great part about hair is that you can change it!!

  10. I don't know you at all so this is a completely unbiased opinion ;0) I think the cutest style on you is the latest, shortest haircut, it works with your face shape and highlights your features more than the medium or long length, keep it short, it looks great!

  11. Honestly, I love your most recent, shortest haircut the best (but I will say, with very very few exceptions, I almost always think short hair is just universally more flattering than long). I do think long hair is beautiful, but I love how easy to style and flattering short hair is. I did the same thing you did . . . took an honest look at how often I styled my long hair to look pretty, realized it was up in a ponytail 90% of the time, and decided that if I wasn't going to make it look like Penelope Cruz's, it had to go :-) I love your short hair, I think it looks beautiful on you!

  14. I LOVE your short hair...you SOOO make me want to go cut mine!! But my husband would DIE!! He loves longer hair. I don't look very good with it short, so I tend to oblige him. I SO wish I could wear it like you. You look fantastic with it long, too, but short really flatters you. Hey, and guess what I wear all summer long...yep, pony tails and buns! :S

  15. I agree with you on long hair being pretty. But short hair looks just as great on you! I'm not that lucky so I'm doomed to have long hair and have to style it every time I go out. However, seeing the ordeal it is and how much I'd damage my hair with heat trying to style it, I decided that I was going to love my hair the way it is, with the ugly waves/curls and all. And I'm doing a fine job at that! :) That's my suggestion to you, love your hair the way it is and rock it.
